    I'm really excited for this
This might be the finest version of this game.

What I'm scared about is crashes, bugs, and awkward touch screen controls.

I'm sure Square did extensive market research beforehand which revealed that going the mobile route would land them a higher ROI than any other way.

    - cheaper development costs -> lower risk
    - no need for after-sales service, because nobody ever patches anything on mobile
    - no whining about crucial game features such as microtransactions from hardcore gamers, because they stay away from the platform... for now

It's basically like heaven to them.

Or Square Enix purposely ignores the games people actually want

I went to the site, and the mobile only release makes me quite sad. The soundtrack from the preview site pulled at my nostalgia and heart strings though, I guess I may just listen to that instead.

    This.
Only took them 20 years to get around to remaking FF7.

Square Enix games that are already in english and released in NA, on the Japanese PSN store but Square Enix refuses to put them on the NA PSN store

SaGa Frontier, Saga Frontier 2, Chocobo's Dungeon 2, Chocobo Racing on JPN PSN and many others on the Japanese Wii U/3DS eshop which also got english releases in NA, (NES, SNES, GB, GBA)

NA got Xenogears on PSN several YEARS after Japan did....

and Final Fantasy VII remake.... so not impressed with them turning it into a Kingdom Hearts clone
If Square Enix is unable to massively update the graphics while keeping the game itself identical to the original PS1 release then they will get no money from me

I'll give my money to Capcom because they are listening

Resident Evil REmake HD, Resident Evil Zero HD, Upcoming Resident Evil 2 remake
They just need to do something with the Onimusha, Megaman and Breath of Fire series'
