Cool I might or might not get it, I still think its printed in too large a quantity to really hold any value as a CE, but who knows.
I really dont have much hope for final fantasy anymore........
I've felt this way for a long time. I expected increases in processing power to lead to grander adventures. I realize FF has always been linear but at least they used to mask it pretty well. I don't care about better visuals if it means I'm restricted in a lot of other ways.
FF9 was the last great one to me. I was so pumped for FFX too... following it in magazines and everything. At least it has the track To Zanarkand. Then they make an online game and let it be part of the series. 12 was meh. Everyone knows how bad the 13 games were. Another online game in the numbered series.
I've been burned enough and won't be placing my hand on the stove again.
hironobu sakaguchi said his favorite in the series was 9 and that it was his ideal vision for the future of the series
I've also heard that Michiru Yamane considers FF9 to be her best work. Even though there are a f*ckton of problems with the game, I'd say that FF8 has a better soundtrack.
Maybe if they make another FF movie and decide to give it 9's story, they could have Meg Ryan play Zidane.![]()
VIII and X are fun regardless of cheesy characters/ridiculous plots. I find it absurd to be all-or-nothing when it comes to video games though, especially when it comes to having high standards for a genre and/or series that I feel are rarely met these days (and generally haven't been in quite some time).
There's plenty of flawed games worth playing regardless of if they measure up to the best of a series . . . though I understand if people have too many issues with a lot of JRPGs past a certain era in general (especially from Square). I wouldn't have nearly as many JRPGs worth playing though if I required JRPGs from the last 15 years to live up to the ones that came before that.
However, I would of course love to see another Final Fantasy that is better than simply worth playing/fun. I'm excited for XV but am not expecting it to be as good or better than the best Final Fantasy games and don't see how that would be possible.

For starters, don't go FF8's route and punish the player for leveling up. Also the story can be ridiculous but it at least needs to make sense.
