Yeah, I waited on Alundra, they were $20 a pop back when I figured out they had a mess of variants. But I figured they'd drop in price and they I could grab up extras... How naive of me...

Yeah Alundra is annoying to get. I went through and annoying sequence of trying to get a copy in decent condition for $40 or less awhile back. I definitely waited too long on Sega Ages and Thunder Force V...

Alundra was actually the last variant set I did as well. I was very lucky that I managed to finish my WD variant set several years back. Prices were just starting to uptick and I didn't have a lot more left that I needed so I sold and saved and resold and repeated and managed to get them all. I'd also put off Alundra due to the sheer number but I gave myself a deadline and a budget and was able to fill out the whole set without paying more than about $35 for any single copy I think (and all are complete with maps).

I'm very close on the set for this but I don't have the bandwidth or money right now to deal with getting all the variants on Summon Night 5. I consider the disc variants being enough for me, so I will probably not go for a G2 unless it falls in my lap. I need a B like banditwolf as well, that seems to be the odd one out for many of us.

I bought most WD PS1/2 games upon release. Waited for a handful though. I got RayCrisis for about $16 sealed just a few years ago.

I use to buy lots of new release games back then. Now I usually just wait for them to drop in price.

It looks just like G from the outside and has the same disc art. Supposedly the insert is slightly different however.

Yeah, I was lucky that I had a decent headstart as well when I started looking for all the variants later on. Like you I rarely buy regular stuff at release anymore, the only thing that gets my dollars are LEs or the like I want, and even there I've been petering out a bit.

Yes, unless I'm wrong. G2 has the D cover on the flip insert, and G1 has C.

I find myself staring at eBay currently, I can get myself a second copy with some pretty disc art that's missing its map for $80CAD. Tempting, maybe if I don't insist on complete copies I can get them all for like $500.....?

Ah, so the D inside-insert is G2? Awesome.

I paid around that much ($60 USD) for it complete with the map and in near mint condition, though that was in late 2013 or early 2014 through a seller on Amazon (it seemed like a good deal since it was rather difficult and generally even more expensive to try to get one with the map on eBay). It seems to have gone up in price since around then, though it was pretty stable for many years.
