I kind of wish I didn't find the Wii library more appealing because it's pretty much the opposite with how I feel about the hardware (GameCube might have my favorite console and controller design). I actually just bought the official Nintendo charging dock/recharable battery for Wii/Wii U Remotes because I hope it will make using those consoles slightly less annoying.

I really prefer a lot of the Gamecube releases of big Nintendo franchises compared to Wii. Notable exception being Galaxy 1/2 > Sunshine.

I love the GC / Wii / Wii U all about equally, for different reasons. All great machines and I've got many games for them.

Wii U library is soft and buttery. It has great Mario games though.

It's the first Nintendo platform that I've been able to get most the 1st party stuff for rather easily (mostly due to sales, Selects, and the size of the library). I tend to miss out due to all the games that don't get price drops and retain their value. I just need New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, Super Mario Maker, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD at this point. I just realized that I've never owned any Mario title on a handheld.

I've mostly enjoyed Smash 4 and Bayonetta 2 but have a number of great games that I'm working on.

I feel like the Wii will come in at a significant lead, but that's speculation until I spend more time with all three (I'm still pretty new to all of them and GC & Wii are some of the weakest links in my collection...I don't really have a substantial amount of games for any Nintendo platform that isn't DS, Wii U, or N64 at the moment)

Smash does feel like an improvement over the Wii version.

The player itself is cheap. The startup disc is expensive. But even though I have everything on the GC I could want, I really want a modded GC solely for unofficial startup discs. The official disc has obvious deficiencies, like that frame-stutter... Unofficial discs made a host of improvements, and GC modchips are only supposed to be like $10 or something.

Yeah, I've got a couple Xeno GC chips and they aren't too bad to install. I have a modded cube with DVD sized lid myself. The big lids are really hard to find anymore, it's almost cheaper to just get mini-DVDs instead.
