Why would anyone want one of those controllers? Especially for $70, and made by Hyperkin... I think those were the 2nd worst controller I ever used in my 30+ years of gaming.

Isn't it fascinating that the last actual machine from Ninty that didn't have some gimmick was the Gamecube?

Little discs, a handle, and being purple seems pretty gimmicky to me (though maybe not, if comparing to what came after from Nintendo instead of before).

They learned how to step it up from the GC level.

I don't think that the colors are really gimmicky. However what they keep doing with the 3ds/2ds systems feels like it.

I wouldn't say the color choice of purple for the original GameCube in and of itself was a gimmick, but it was definitely making some sort of statement.

I actually prefer the look of the GameCube to most consoles...it just didn't have many games I wanted to play on it during it's lifespan...and being able to play those games on a Wii makes it a bit replaceable (though I won't ever sell mine, I might not find a good enough reason to plug it in again either).
