Is that what was made from the pics/meme's people made up when it was shown? Seems like I recall someone was going to make that.

Catherine being “remade” for PS4 and Vita under the title Catherine FB (Full Body). I personally don’t think it’s necessary and rather see a sequel straight away.

Catherine was a really good game that I have been planning to play a second time. Loved the gameplay, writing, voice acting, characters. I can't see why it needs a remake but Vita would be a great way to play it again. It already looks and sounds beautiful, so it doesn't need any special treatment.
But, you are right. A sequel is needed. This may be the first part of testing the waters to see the viability of the franchise, as SEGA has been doing with other more niche properties; Yakuza, Valkyria, etc. Those also got remakes and remasters.
Modern trend seems to be to milk a game for all it's worth because it's easy and it results in a high-margin product. I know that LoP disagrees with me when I say that graphics have been "good enough" for the past 2-3 generations, but this sorta proves that point that it takes little more than a new texture pack and higher resolution rendering to continue to sell a game to a new audience, or returning players for that matter.
It's really hard to improve on games that already are fun. The visual enhancements are just icing on the cake.
PS2 graphics were super far from good enough.

Anything now blows that gen away.

It depends on what kind of game it is. For example, a racing or flying game with objects visually popping in isn't good enough to me. I won't buy HD remazturds at full price unless there's real work done; moderate improvements to some textures and a standard feature doesn't do it for me. Okami looks pretty crappy, Tales of Symphonia used the worst version, and Splinter Cell's textures looked awful to name bad ones. Most have been mediocre.
Gameplay shouldn't be touched unless there's a valid reason. I think graphics and audio should constantly improve, particularly when it's supposed to be a 'remastered' release. Audio design has degenerated lately in spite of all the awesome things that can be done. Lossless not being standard at this point is also annoying.
