The player/stereo manual lists 'amplifier' and specs. So built in then right?

This got rather complex already for me. Do I need anything else to do recording from it or is it just preferred to have something?
I'm not looking to spend big money like the wondertwins but if I can find something cheaper locally I'll watch.

Need the coffers intact for LRG retro doobles.

Bandit does the player itself have volume control knobs? I think that's the easiest way to answer your question but I'm kind of a dumb dumb about all of this so there is that.

That post by Z was pretty good, but like, that follow-up from Best was just perfect.

Oh for sure. And treble/etc. Seems like a mid range Pioneer from it's time from looking at the brochure.
Pioneer Centrex KH-8833 and I still have the matching speakers for it. They sound very nice to me yet.

I did read Z's post. I get the basics.

Probably. I'm fairly indifferent on the matter. Obviously there is perceived higher resolution and a much greater dynamic range, but that would mean that the music would need to be mastered to take advantage of it but it doesn't seem to be getting that treatment anymore. In theory if would give you all of the advantages of vinyl without any of its problems. 16 bit CD audio already does not have the low frequency noise quality issue that vinyl has, and rarely does vinyl produce frequencies higher than around 20 kHz anyway since it's pointless, even though it's possible to do on the vinyl medium. That's not a limit in 96 kHz recordings though and the dynamic range of 24 bit gives lots of room for frequencies of any amplitude, but bear in mind that most 24 bit audio is still mastered to be transferred to 16 bit for streaming / MP3s anyway today.

You simply need a phono to line or USB converter. If it's line level, run it into your soundcard's line input in the same way you'd connect something like a game system or external MP3 player.

I don't worry about it too much myself. I'd be happy just to have things not compressed to the point of clipping.

I bought a cheap Jensen turntable like two or three weeks ago to listen to the records that I have/are coming, it has a pre-amp and USB output to convert to MP3. I still haven't tested that functionality, but I'll do with the Nex Machina vinyl and compare it with a version available on the webz to see if I can spot any substancial difference.

About the preference on media format, I'm fine with either. Z's posts explain quite well why the purists' love for the vinyl doesn't resonate with me. I buy some of them because I listened to both formats in my childhood and can enjoy each one, regardless of the inherent weakness or strentgh they present. But vinyl looks damn cool, as I said before, especially for videogame OSTs, and the collectors/utility value is better for a vinyl, so I can go with that from time to time.

I thought that it was the only possible answer after that elaborated post.

Don't get me wrong. Vinyl is fine and sounds great. It just doesn't offer me what I get in FLAC. But I understand the appeal and the simplicity. It's just the long running debate about it being superior to digital that needs to die. It might have been somewhat true in 1990, before DACs matured. Now, not so much.

In theory it should never clip unless you are adding gain though a digital EQ, but there are still many fools out there who are paid to professionally master audio. If I need to add a frequent range, it's best to just carefully attenuate everything else to avoid clipping on 16 bit audio.
