this is very... um.... interesting? Or something?
infamous games 'journalist' Flapjack Kraplik who writes for infamous internet garbage dump Vice wrote an article detailing the NeoGAF incident including comments from Evilore
quotes of interest:
translation: It wasn't me, it was herMalka has not publicly commented on the allegations, but in a series of email exchanges with me over the weekend, he pushed back against the story. The two have not spoken in years, according to Malka. He called Leupp "a deeply disturbed, malicious individual," a characterization Leupp, in an interview with me today, attributed to Malka's attempts to gaslight people over his own behavior.
translation: I didn't do nothing wrongAs for the incident described by Leupp, Malka called it "totally harmonious and consensual."
aren't both of these people supposed to be drunk? Also: isn't this confirmation nothing really did happen? As in there was literally no physical contact what-so-ever, just some dumb drunk goblin looking dork being a pervert? Sexual assault is quite impossible here. Other than seeing Evilore naked, I need help understanding how this was so traumaticLeupp, however, said she made no indication the night was to turn sexual.
"I pretty clearly remember closing the door," she said, "maybe not closing it all the way, but closing it enough so that I was protected. I wasn't getting naked in front of him and then going 'Oh, I'm going to puke. You wanna come in the shower with me? That's ****ing gross."
She called his insistence that such an advance was consensual "delusional."
okay.Leupp said that, at the time, she was polyamorous and in an open relationship with a boyfriend, but the open part of her relationship was exclusive to women, not men. Leupp said her boyfriend knew and trusted Malka.
wait, what? so they eventually bumped uglies and that somehow wasn't traumatic?Malka and Leupp did have consensual sex one time after the shower incident.
next two quotes are out of order, but this:
and this"Internet drama isn't new to NeoGAF," said one moderator, "but when the allegation is that the site owner sexually harassed someone, and it is allowed to spiral out of control to a point where it's a really bad look, it's hard to justify sticking around without a knowing that there's a clear plan ahead. Not knowing how this would move forward is what sealed the deal for me. It's impossible to moderate the forum in future in good faith when I'm unable to honestly answer valid questions people might have about this matter."
is like:Malka claims the incident was exaggerated to defame him, a consequence of NeoGAF's strong opposition to GamerGate, even though it was thoroughly discussed on NeoGAF itself.
is it possible for one person to be so damn dumb and ignorant that he honest to goodness believes gamer gaters are to blame when its quite clear the knives sticking in his back came from his own mods and community who turned against him over the flimsiest and most questionable of accusations? The article touches on Evilore slapping a woman's butt in Spain years ago and the recent mod arrested for child porn which is way more telling what kind of a cesspool NeoGAF is.
I guess I should point out Malka claimed he was offered $10 million for NeoGAF at one time and its not like this accusation turning into a cataclysmic category 5 controversy blowing the site down was convenient for certain people in a totally not suspicious sort of way. Sorta kinda like how feminism might not truly be a civil rights or equality issue, but utilized more as a weapon to... I don't know... Steal? Because they're greedy. And want money without having to legitimately earn it? This is all just idle speculation...
I could swear I've seen this same thing happen before tho.
couldn't happen to more deserving people this time...
