I actually saw this guy on Facebook a little bit ago as well, I was totally floored by his work as well. That said, the $45 price tag kind of let the wind out of my sails when it comes to making purchases. I understand that he is doing really nice high quality work but it's just more than I would consider paying for something like this.

His Christmas Nights into Dreams case is what got me onto him. Always wanted a long box for that since it came in a sleeve and his version was pretty cool

Mentally and physically I will likely keep these separate if I start buying them. No way I could mix them in.

Lastly as far as this guy goes, he does not actually want to profit from these. He only made these for himself for reasons like mine, always wanting for fun to see what these games would look like had they come over here. Hes also only doing 10-20 copies of each as he never intended it for a profit, only a fun hobby. So to me he seems pretty genuine.
Yeah it definitely happens and as mentioned I know it can be very discouraging for the translator team. They work so hard out of love essentially to make a game playable to people and then people profiteer off it without permission. Suuuucks.

The project itself with the case is definitely neat. Like that (just the high end repro case/unique manual) is something I would consider at the right price for a game I love. Are they including repro games as well? I saw the Lunar in the OP but didn't know if you did that or if it came with it.

The Lunar is just something I ripped directly from his facebook page. He did that one for fun. I dont think hes doing a production run of it.

He is including discs as well with amazing disc art work too that matches what would have been done back in the day which is the art scribed onto the discs.

He is actually including the translated games on the discs patched to US region. I guess thats where it gets weird but based on the demand I see and how good his stuff is, he could easily just start a production line of these but he has explicitly stated he won't to preserve the quality. So he isn't the usual high volume bootlegger. Definitely more of an artist with personal desire to see US box art for some of these games we never got.

This is actually a good Youtube video to watch to get a feel for how his mind works

Linkle Liver Story is the only one so far that was translated and is included on the disc. So I don't know the relationship between the translation team and him.

The big one is going to be Grandia... as many know the Saturn version is being translated (almost finished I think) and he has cases for those already. Its crazy looking at his Grandia art because it makes you think that could have and should have been released in the US had the system survived a bit longer

ALL of the photos Im posting im just posting direct from his facebook

The Grandia release looks real nice. This is like porn from the EGM days where you'd see a mockup of a game for the US release but it never actually materialized.

Right exactly! I think he even mentions those same memories as why he started doing it.

He even did the Policenauts case to look exactly like the mockup Sega had back in their pamphlets. Hoping he releases that one still.

The thing I love is that for older games he keeps the traditional look where Sega put borders around the tops and bottoms of the art (kinda hated that, always like the later releases art, but its consistent). And even a detail like the back of the Policenauts manual having an add for Contra LOW which was a game Konami put out around the same time.

This is the original tiny fuzzy image we got in Segas pamphlets before it got cancelled.

These look really good. Maybe this person will make more of that Lunar one if the Saturn fan-ports for ever finish.
What's with the Etsy bashing? I mainly use it for jewelry, I once bought a repro there, it wasn't the best (Panzer Dragoon Saga, I own the game but my old case got destroyed), but has anyone bought Etsy repros and also had a bad experience?

The Etsy remark is because often stuff on Etsy is just cheap low quality junk bought en masse from Ali-express and then resold. Or the quality just isn't there.

If I buy a bootleg of something, I usually end up doing a lot of work to make high quality labels and what not myself and try to make them distinctly different than the existing version or just different enough but official looking.

So I got my first one in the mail from Dave. Discworld. And my god its perfection. Again I will likely never buy any other repros in my life but I dont mind this guys. The inside manual is perfect, the feel of the pages, the disc even has a hologram look. Hopefully he actually releases the Discworld II one down the road

And today he dropped orders for the one Ive waited for the most! US Deep Fear packaging. He did reversible manual art that includes the original artwork plus his alternate which I love. I own a complete proto US version of Deep Fear on official Sega discs I got years ago and always wanted US packaging to house it.

Its becoming pretty hard to get his stuff now. He only does a run of 10 and you have to be the first to comment on his facebook post. Basically you have to do it within seconds and hope for the best but I was to get one of these.
