    Custom avatars now enabled on forum

    Custom avatars are now enabled for users on the forum.

    Profile pictures and avatars have different sizes. Could you let us use 100 by 100 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller) for the avatar as well?

    Set them both to 100x100 max, we'll see how that goes.

    Could you increase the max file size? My avatar go auto-compressed a ton

    We'll leave it here for a while until we see how the extra load from the graphics is handled by the server.

    Just snowballing an idea here, but if people want their 40kb super-detail pngs, is enabling off-site hosting an option?

    (as an aside, if you have any version of Photoshop and want to get your image looking highish quality while being under the size limit: File->Save for web...->JPEG Very High preset->Fiddle with Quality and Blur sliders:

    PNG-8 is also an option if there aren't a massive amount of colors in the image (read: more than 128 different colors):

    Pretty sure GIMP has to have something similar to these settings.)
