Cool pickups. Any particular reasons you picked up PAL versions of those 3 games?
I dont know what it is and I take **** for it on the Sega Saturn forums since there are decent amount of UK/AUS fans on there, but I hate the PAL boxes/cases.
I also just dont like the whole PAL formatting.
Its probably just I grew up with them but to me the US cases are the pinnacle visually.
Now I know they are A. the hardest to keep in good condition and B. look really shitty when scuffed up or the manuals bow in. But I preface this by saying in top condition nothing to me beats the shiny US cases. As long as you use the foam inserts, the Manuals will sit flat against the case and the colors really pop.
I feel like most people are used to seeing junky broken used games at stores and markets but I think with the replacement cases starting to hit the market, many more people should be able to experience mint US Saturn collections which to me is the best.
The only thing I give the PAL releases credit for is that they always filled the entire front with the artwork. Earlier on the US stuff was cropped with the bars. But the late US Saturn releases to me art the best. Very colorful and the artwork spills over into the left margin.

These were from the same guy I bought the dc and ps1 games from. So I just bought everything again.
That said my first thought when getting these cases was wow these are better than US cases. Both are far from optimal though. Japanese Saturn cases are the best of the three regions by far imo.

Id say PAL got a handful of better artworks but generally I find the library to be the same. When the artworks are the same I prefer the US because they did this thing where the artwork is bigger and spills over into the margins. The PAL copys they crop the stuff.
I personally prefer the Shining Force III US over the PAL. They are completely different but there are 2 reasons.
First I just like the red/purple look. But I also like that it uses the original Japanese Scenario 1 artwork because its in fact only just the 1st one and doesn't hide that.
This picture is from a couple years ago but I used to display the SFIII games sorta ofset and it just works better when its the actual S1 art. US cases also just look a lot better on a shelf too Imo.

Ha I should take an updated photo. I added a couple more Ikea sections.
I actually miss facing some of the games out like I did in the photo. It just unfortunately eliminates a shelf that could hold 7 games and these Ikea shelves are pricey :/
Yeah it looks cool but it's really not feasible when you have a large collection. Have to conserve space as much as possible pretty much.

I probably don't have a 'big collection' compared to most of you, but I collect for all console systems, so I have a pretty large collection in a very small house. Currently I have one large media shelf mostly full with CD based games. All my cartridge based games have been stored under my bed, which recently had to start including Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games which is painful since I paid extra to purchase custom game cases for those games. Its a real bummer to me that I can't show off my games properly until I get a larger place.
Honestly my collection is unruly at this point. The anime alone is branching out, sprawling all over and I have various new acquisitions I need to put away iirc.
