Price keeps creeping up on the real deal but I'd probably drop some cash on the real deal, in the right condition. We'll see. I'm actually one step closer on a legit Compile shooter this week.

For the Genesis, a Game Genie handles pretty much all your import needs unless you want to file down the cart slot a bit.

I can confirm that Game Genie works with a Japanese copy of Musha Aleste. Well, on a PAL Mega Drive 2, that is. Don't know about Genesis.

I highly recommend getting a JP copy of MUSHA if you want a legit one. The game might even be a world region ROM since it's such an early release. The only reason I have a US copy is because I was very lucky when my friend was parting with his and sold it to me at an amazing price.

I can vouch for the Game Genie on the US Genny, I have around 30 Jap MD carts and all work flawlessly (no codes required for the ones I have). Not sure about the multi region thing but some display English text for narrative/brief explanations despite saying MD at the beginning, namely some of the Namcot games. (Cant tell if the original Japanese are like this or if it's booting EU). But yes Game Genie practically makes the system region free for most cases.

OMG! It even actually works! That Power Strike / Aleste theme remix on the intro! Can't help the Compile obsession! WHY WHY WHY do they have to be Compile Heart now!? The fact that CH picked up all of the old rights to Compile's old library just adds more salt to the wound.
