Dreamcast isn't really needed as you can just use CDRs for MIL-CD compatible Dreamcasts. Saturn one is much more appealing.

Some games don't like being downsized from GD to CD (including my favorite rhythm game, Cool Cool Toon), and switching games without getting up to switch discs is lovely. It is certainly a premium product as a solution, but I'm very happy with it.

For DC, had you considered one of the $50 GDEmu instead? If so, what made you pick MODE?

I did and I have a buddy that is currently building a GDEmu DC, so I'll have one to compare to soon.

For me a large reason was the ability to hook up a 2tb SATA HDD to it, so I can have the full library available at any one time. Some people have absolutely no problem having a smaller game set or switching out games, but I'm super anal about that.

Other features are the interface which is much nicer than GDEmu. The $50 GDEmu clones also don't have firmware updates or support. MODE supports bin and cue redump standard. And the final big one: I didn't have to solder anything.

Sure, but I don't know that much has changed. And it seems like a good solution to drop into a broken system with a burnt-out GDROM (I have a few of them).

My biggest problems with the official GDEMU is availability more than price though. There was new "100% compatible" firmware this year though.

Decided to hack my New 3DS XL this morning. Took me less than an hour. Now I can get on with Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, and then down the line, Fire Emblem Fates (kept LE sealed).

I'm about 5.5 hours in Strange Journey Redux, Lv 20 for MC. Good game so far. I've never enjoyed dungeon crawler RPGs, but this one seems good so far.

    Cranking em out!

October is always spooky/horror games month for me. So I've been playing Resident Evil 2 right now.
