Well, apparently Zoidberg wasn't very good at the game at nearly 20 runs! BA-ZING!

The balancing is extremely well done as I'd expect from Supergiant. I've read you need something like 10 complete runs to fully "finish" the game though, wow.

He means 10 complete runs only after you get to the first complete one, where it takes around 20-30 to get the first ending. TBH I did better than most tend to do. I think my friend took nearly 50 to get the first one.

My wife is enjoying the game, she did switch on God mode though so she could avoid a bit of the heavy grinding to increase stats but lol the changes aren't very big. She got to the surface as well but lost against the second wave of the boss.

That's when I lost. Second wave. Didn't use god mode.

Playing through Grandia 1 in Grandia HD Collection. Fun game. A relic of its time that still holds up today. The usual issues back then are still there like the bad camera, inventory management, and derpy Feena animation when she gets the last strike in battle. Could be worse.

I find PS1/Early PS2 jank rather charming personally.

My wife finished her first run on Hades this weekend, then we continued to rock through and I made it to the final boss with the shield but lost
Right now we're trying to farm keys.

That's funny. I also finished my first run this weekend (Run 21), Picked it back up after two months taking a break and beat it on the second run after picking it back up.

I started to figure out his patterns and spammed Athena's call which gives you 1-2 seconds of invulnerability. Had that sword "cursed slash" and I'd get in w/ the call and spam attacks to heal, then hide behind the pillars. I beat him w/ full life after I got the patterns down.

I was originally planning to give up because I lost all most of my lives rather early. I think I only had one or two left by the time I got to him. I got really lucky when I took a chance on buying an anvil upgrade right before fighting him that gave me that cursed slash and another upgrade I needed. I would have done even better if I hadn't upgraded my special with a dash strike that ruined my play style.

I mean it's really amazing how well this game is put together in terms of the buff/debuff variety and what a difference you can get in builds over the course of a run. We normally start out with the Hypnos charm for extra cash, then switch to Dusa duster until that last spot and then choose the Skelly tooth for the extra life.

My wife and I play totally different though so it's entertaining to see the other person approach bosses. We've just started dabbling with the pacts as well for extra bonuses. The depth in the game is great and makes it a value. I fully expect LRG to make a physical version of this eventually since they did the same thing for other Super Giant games.
