So I have no issue playing on PC or console and I think it's kinda funny that people get so hardcore one way or another. There are genres I wouldn't play on console but that has everything to do with having access to one controller only.

Beat shining force 3 scenario 2 and am a good chunk of the way through 3. Playing all 3 back to back does become a bit of a grind though.

SF3 is a matserpiece, but I hear ya. I clocked in 230+ hours by the time I was done. Granted I was aiming to clear the Premium Disk, which was made easier by all my grinding. I took several breaks in between the final grind.

I'm mainly replaying Lunar: The Silver Star and Final Fantasy VI. Also I've been getting into NEC PC-98 emulation via Neko Project II.
