Can't say I've had that issue with Xenogears and I played it at least 3 times over the years.

Feels like something that would get fixed by a patch now I think.

@storino: It's just luck on random battle timing.

Maybe you'll remember jumping and getting attacked while in the air...

Currently playing through Life is Strange 2 on PS4. It's $19.99 for the whole season right now. Physical comes out early February 2020.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is on hold. I'm on World 4-1 there.

I do think the originals hold up fine for play today. People sometimes talk about the clunk of the first one but I don't think that really goes away in 2-3. It was all a bit clunky then too, one of the first things I noticed when playing the first time and it hasn't stopped me from replaying them.

Speaking of clunk I've been back at Xenogears lately. You really have to work against the game in weird ways that I don't know if the developer intended. The worst thing is you can get into a battle at any time. Moving the camera counts. This wouldn't even be all that bad if not for the fact that there are sequences where you have to make jumps in this game. If a battle triggers while you are in mid air instead of completing the jump as normal you fall to the ground. This can cause a lot of back tracking. The "trick" is to make sure you get into a battle before you jump which should make it to where you won't get in another battle so quickly, but of course there are no guarantees..
I know the exact part you are talking about. Tower of Babel is the most ridiculous part of the game because of the precision jumps needed and the length of the overall dungeon.

Playing Fire Emblem Three Houses (Switch). I beat New Super Lucky's Tale (though still working through World 6, which is basically like Mario Galaxy's space world, except with bonus challenges). Short, but sweet. I enjoyed the platforming.

I actually had it happen sooner. I got through the Tower of Babel yesterday and yeah, that is an obnoxious dungeon. All for a boss that is over in one attack lol.
