I really doubt they will make those non-canon.

Also, both 1-3 and 7-9 trilogies are ok. 4-6 is overrated. Not denying its importance and legacy, but they aren't the greatest movies ever made.

We all mutually agreed that we didn't like it. I couldn't handle what I saw of Episode 2. I kinda liked the little bits of Episode 3 that I caught in passing.

Episodes 4-6 were mostly pretty good, with some exceptions. I think that they got ruined with a bit of the doctoring and computer graphics that Lucas did over the years.

I don't care at all about the recent Disney films. They and Marvel keep churning out hot garbage.
The thing about the OT and why it was actually decent is because it was just Lucas's take on already established stories, just in a space setting. The whole OT arc is basically just Arthurian legend. Then you have Lucas borrowing from far superior movie makers. Star Wars has scenes basically lifted (TRANSPOSED FROM EASTERN STILLS KEKW) from Hidden Fortress (a great movie, better than anything Lucas has done). There are some other things lifted from other Kurosawa titles as well. Yojimbo, Sanjuro and probably some others.

The PT is crap and Lucas was super sure to force those toy and video game tie ins. I mean ****, the pod racing scene was made for that entirely while being a straight copy from Ben Hur because that's what Lucas is best at. Admittedly I think the toy craze really started with ROTJ, this was just continuing it. I've seen so little of Episode 2 and 3 that I can't even recall too much about them. I think I watched both once.

Further proof of Lucas being at his best when simply copying others is Indiana Jones. The first three are basically just 30s-40s adventure movies but made in the 80s.

In conclusion, the OT are the only ones I could even stand to watch right now but I'd rather watch tons of other stuff first.

I'd never considered the Hidden Fortress thing, but now that you mention it, it makes sense. Even more after watching this:

Kurasawa was always getting ripped off. Still is.
