Why does Netflix take so long to put up the most recent season of a show?
$$$$ probably.
Bad media connoisseur and frequent avatar changer.
Most companies don't want Netflix to cut into DVD sales, so Netflix doesn't get it til after the DVDs are out. CW is nice and posts to Netflix now 10 days after the season ends.
TV shows usually hit upon "DVD release".
Just started Castlevania, on Netflix. Might be too "grimdark" for Da Gyps.
Castlevania actually wasn't bad. It was short enough ~20min each episode that it was straight/to the point.
I was watching it and couldn't help myself... I said, aloud, in a gravelly voice....
Spoiler:
I was surprised at how good this is. I'm not sure that I like the anime-inspired artwork by what appears to be western studios. It's not that it's bad. It's just a bit unusual. The visual production just isn't all that spectacular. Sometimes the backgrounds look really good, but the rest is sorta "meh".
However, the writing and VA are exceptionally good. I think that for a pilot they really put the money where it counts. It's almost like that '90s-era anime that I really miss. A bit gritty, and witty. There isn't much out there with a more grownup appeal, and that's what I think that they were going for. Netflix really seems to be trying some thing that other companies aren't doing. Some of the gore probably could have been toned down a bit. I've seen worse, but it probably wasn't necessary to be so over-the-top at times.
It doesn't really pick up until the second episode, but by the final one it really is enjoyable. I would like to see a second season. Amazing, that Konami, who isn't making games in this series, is so eagerly licensing their material for a show. Turned out quite well though.
