I finished watching Devilman Crybaby on Netflix just recently. It starts out really weird and over the top with the nudity and themes, but the series ends with an insane crescendo of sorts over the last three episodes. Definitely not for the faint of heart, but the music and animation are incredibly well done, plus at only 10 episodes it is not too long to stick with. I'd recommend it to anyone looking with something different to watch, it's not anything like most of the modern moe garbage that comes out.

It's actually at the top of my watch list, as much as I avoid new anime. I liked Mind Game a lot and am interested to see what Masaaki Yuasa does with Devilman (yeah...I'm so out of touch with anime that I only know his first feature film...I'll at least try to fix that at some point outside of watching Devilman Crybaby).

Not big on Devilman but I feel you on this. I basically only watch old anime now. No joke.

I'm kind of afraid of new anime. I assume I will hate most/all of it, but I haven't really watched much of anything to confirm/deny my bias. I don't recall actually choosing to not watch anime at a certain point...I guess I just became too busy with other things and getting reaquainted has turned into more and more of a chore.

A lot of new anime feels very samey to me. When I finish up Witcher 2 I'm gonna get back to some anime.

I need to finish Boogiepop Phantom after getting distracted by other things. I've been meaning to watch it since it came out and I can tell I'm going to like it from the first few episodes...I actually had the first episode from some issue of the first year of NewType USA on DVD that I watched back then and was pretty much sold on the show at that point as well. However, it's nowhere near new, though it's newer than most anime I generally watch.

Yeah, there is some decent modern stuff but it can be all over the place. At least Crunchyroll has a huge library to choose from.

It is. I couldn't care less for that one or Alien 3.
