I'm in the same boat on the Rayearth blu set.
Yeah, I didn't even bother trying to keep up with the Gundam Blu-rays with the rate at which they're released, but I'm glad they're out there to eventually be bought. I had a hard enough time getting all of the Ranma LEs before they went out of print. Sailor Moon is the only series I'm currently buying as it comes out, with three volumes left to go.

It's 31 episodes but I seem to remember it going by really fast. I really liked all of the extra characters and extra stories. I saw it before the movie though, and the movie was a really condensed version and simply wasn't coherent enough to be enjoyable. But I know that the movie came first.

Mobile Suit Gundam: 0083: Stardust Memory is the only one I would advise not bothering to pick-up and watch. That series was a ill-conceived train wreck. Premise wise it was fine, but the characters are terrible and there were actual problems with the story and plot, which I personally regard that as inexcusable in a series belonging to such a high profile franchise.

Mobile Suit Gundam: 0080: War in the Pocket I regard as being a masterpiece short series and the finest Gundam series in the entire original MSG (Mobile Suit Gundam) universe.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team another well written story taking place in the original universe. Well worth noting it ends with the movie "Miller's Report".

I can't imagine ever liking a Gundam series more than the first, but I'll keep everyone updated as I watch more (though anything post-Turn A is not cel animation, if I remember correctly, so all of those series are already dead).

I would say Zeta and MS Team are better than War in the Pocket but I mean, opinions and all that. War in the Pocket is definitely good!

The way War in the Pocket is talked about, it sounds like the favorite of non-Gundam fans or the gateway Gundam that fans use to try to get their friends into Gundam. I love '80s OAVs in general, so I'm sure I will like the animation and/or music a lot regardless of anything else.

The show is really good and lighthearted fun.

Really should watch it. Movie was too serious.

I tried watching the 2011 OVA series and didn't' get far though. Maybe I'll give it a chance.

Going to try the Sega CD game soon-ish. Need to get alcohol on this desktop first though.
