I'm probably the only person who might not give a care at all. I always do check the back description and I totally ask the customer service representative if it's an RPG and what kind. I got so used to play-testing games out before buying them because Funcoland would let you do so in-store. I also believe the small business rental stores would let you buy games if you asked and you'd have obviously rented it already or a place here let you play-test it out there.
It's funny you say that. I actually printed out a copy of the Japanese Artwork of Alisia Dragoon for my US copy because I love the Gainax artwork compared to the US stuff.

My first WD memory has got to be Cosmic Fantasy II, back in the day there weren't many games for the Turbografx-CD and while I loved Ys 1-3 I needed more. I remember seeing screens of it in EGM, and soon after I got it. My 13 year old mind was blown by just how great the game was, especially the story which was miles ahead of most RPGs out here at the time. Then there was the ending credits, never before had I heard an actual SONG in a game before. Blew my mind. I think I called WD every day for like a week straight to tell them how awesome I thought the game was.

    Good times.

My first WD was probably Alundra - to this day I still associate "Give 'Em the Boot Vol. 1" with that game as thats what I listened to while playing that game.

Fondest memory - Lots of great memories from that period of time...

My first WD was Lunar. My friend had bought the Seda CD(I was too poor at the time to buy it) and I remember watching him play that game and wanting a sega cd soooo much! To me, the game was really next-gen with the anime cutscenes(and bathscene..lol jk) and the soundtrack and gameplay... wow! I started to follow WD from that point on!
