I think all the systems have hit and miss titles with the WD library.

    Imo

    Turbo
    Hit: Exile, Parasol Stars, Cadash
    Miss: Exile WP, Vasteel
Need to play: Cosmic Fantasy 2 (actually just bought it, but doubt it will even ship before Christmas)

    Sega CD
    Hit: Popful Mail
    Miss: Vay
N/A: Lunars (I tried to play these versions and just never got into them the way I did the PS1 games)

    Saturn
Hit: MKR, Dragon Force, Sega Ages
    Miss: Shining Wisdom, Albert Odyssey
    Need to play: Iron Storm

    PS1
Hit: EVERYTHING. So okay, I guess they aren't all hit and miss.

    PS2
    Hit: Growlanser Generations, Silpheed
    Miss: Gungriffon Blaze
I appreciate even the misses from WD because they were really the only company back then taking chances on bridging the East/West game culture.

Its also a bit of an odd list to comment on because there is alot to take into account simply from reading this thread and Vics stories. Realistically without Stolar around WD releases Lunar 1/2 for Saturn first (hit), they release those 2 shooter packs Vic mentioned (hit), and very likely Grandia (hit). Just a small twist of fate could have made the Saturn WD library far and away the best. A solid chunk of their PS1 releases were also on Saturn and I imagine Vic would have brought them there if not for Stolar. That being said Grandia should have been their Lunar for Saturn. Sadly it didnt happen but I feel Dragon Force carries their flag just fine on Saturn as I remember most magazines back then nominating it for overall game of the year.

Id add Iron Storm to the hit list for Saturn. Its a pure strat game but highly rated back in the day. Not for everyone. Also Albert Odyssey despite not being a 10/10 that people had hoped, is still enjoyable enough. That and Shining Wisdom I put in the mediocre category but expectations damaged the releases.

Yeah I mean, I still finished most of the games I put in the miss category. I don't think any of them are below a 6/10 or so (maybe Vasteel is) but when you compare them to the others they aren't as good imo.

Unless there are major story omissions in the remakes I don't think the SCD versions are worth large empty overmaps and random battles.

There are some very stark differences, but I still much prefer the PS1 version the SCD version.

Luna doesn't go with you when you leave Meribia in TSS.

There's also the whole obtaining Althena's sword quest that was omitted in the remake. One of my favorite parts and something that really makes Alex's quest to become a dragon master seem complete.

Yeah maybe I'm spoiled but I was a bit bored by the SCD version.

I played the PS1 versions first, and then the Sega CD versions back in 2012 and enjoyed both for what they were.

Seems more like a decision to make her more relevant to players rather than a straight cut.

Is there plot or character development involved?

Exactly what it was. This was discussed somewhere, can't remember if it was an extra disc, the guide or the manual.
