They PSP release temporarily dipped the value. It's slightly inferior on PSP but not so much as to account for THAT value difference. It's one of the PSP games I kept I believe as I purged a lot but kept the G E M S.

I really regret not buying more sealed doubles in the day. The PS1 was the first system to make me notice how much used games suck, because unlike carts CDs could pretty easily stop working. So for a bunch of games I bought used I started picking up new copies when I found them for decent prices. But I largely ignored sealed copies of games I bought new and tore open myself. I imagine I'd like having sealed copies of the Lunar's, Megaman's, Vagrant Story and such. And why oh why were Greatest Hits games such ugly things, my cheap sealed Final Fantasy's are worth less than my opened black label copies.
I remember when Amazon had Persona 2 Eternal Punishment for $39.99 when it was reprinted maybe 10-12 years ago.
The PS1 price push is interesting to watch because it took so long to happen. Seems like through the last 5-7 years where the game market really jumped, PS1 stuff stayed fair. Probably due to their being so many copies of games produced in comparison to say the Saturn.
However this last year things have started to turn for sure. Even Dino Crisis, Silent Hill have taken bumps. The RPGs for sure.
I kinda wish I had collected more PS1 over the years but I dont have regrets sinking most of my money into Saturn since those prices are even more stupid now.
Lukcily I would say I got most of the PS1 stuff I really wanted back when it was cheap. Have also gotten lucky on stuff like the $28 Tail Concerto I got a couple months back.
When I was a kid, there were so many oddball or slightly off the beaten path titles I always wanted for PS1 before I owned one. I always kept a mental record of them from Gamepro magazines. Just looking at my collection now a couple of them were Overblood, Treasures of the Deep, Clock Tower, Felony 11-79, and Disruptor. I would say each one of those I got at a local shop for under $5 over the years. Some of these have jumped into the $30 range. Obviously Clock Tower has always been up there.
I think what makes the PS1 so great is that the library was so massive you could go in any direction with a collection.
I more or less have every PS1 game I truly want. All the WD rpgs for sure and a few other choice titles.

I never did pickup Tomba 1/2. Literally never saw copies for reasonable prices, even back in the day.
