Yeah but there's a difference between having troubles because you haven't improved enough and having troubles because of flaws in the game.

I don't know. There's a lot more to get frustrated about in 8-bit games than in most contemporary games. So I don't think it has to do with age (people getting older) rather than people being more experienced in gaming or not.

The thing with camera issues is that all of them have been solved already in the PS2 era. There were plenty of games with perfect camera. Yet for some reason a number of developers are still struggling with it after all these years. So it's only normal that experienced players are fed up with a bad camera when they know it can be done way better.

With the SMG games they tried a bit of a new perspective though, so I didn't really mind that the camera wasn't always perfect. It's way worse when in a traditional 3D platformer the camera is all over the place imo.

8-Bit games were definitely harder but that's what there was and it was the best at the time, and as stubborn kids we'd fail repeatedly until we had it all down perfectly and could beat it no problem.

Nowadays I'll still put up with losses but nowhere near as many before I say f*ck it and play/do something else.

I enjoy the Gex games and the camera in those is a mother f*cker. The levels are interesting and the Dana Gould voicework is funny so I still enjoy it.

Not just harder. The lack of save options for example is a legitimate reason for frustration. I mean, back in the day people would leave their consoles running for hours, maybe even days, so that they could beat a game. I remember doing something similar when my sister got her Mega Drive (which I own now) and I wanted to bear Sonic on it.

It's hard to figure out when they're needed or not. Beating the first Sonic would feel much less impressive if you could save.

You just didn't have the option. If Sonic were remade today (and assuming all else stayed exactly the same), they'd add either the option to save, or else a game mode where you only had 1 save or something. And that would probably be for the better. Anyway, leaving the console running until you can resume your play session also has its charms of course. But convenient it is not so much.

@PS: Agree. Games that are tougher because of flaws are annoying. That's why I stopped playing Rodea and started playing FE: Shadow Dragon.

Testify! I know many "gamers" bemoan sports games but from a game design perspective EA gets almost everything right.

Lol yes. It was soooo fun having to beat Cadash without turning the system off.

I have bought a few digital games from the PS Store. Most of my games are physical though. I have gotten a lot of DLC though. What bothers me is that I can usually get the game cheaper at my local GameStop, local gaming store. Maybe it's just me, but I would think that a digital game should be cheaper because the company isn't paying for the box it comes in, printing instructions, shipping to the store, the store taking a cut of the game, etcetc. Plus I can get to my gaming store, buy a game, and get home before a digital game finishes downloading.

And those day one downloads really bother me. I rather a company take an extra couple of months getting a game right than just going 'oh well, we will just make a patch to fix it'. It just feels very lazy to me. I truly wonder how bad/glitchy games would be now a days if they couldn't slap those day one patches on.

    I think this fits here.
Booted up my XONE after a couple days.
My Controller needs an update.... huh? Why? Did it become unstable as well?

The new XONE layout is horrible. Why does everything need to be space agey and crazy. Give me simple. I was still learning the previous layout.

@dmaster: Personally I value digital games way less. Many don't hit my price range until they are discounted by at least 90%.

@bandit: What the....that's completely idiotic. I hear you on the layouts and stuff. I dislike the newer dashboard on 360.
