But I don't see them disappear anytime soon. The business model of most ISPs is built around them. And in most countries the games industry and other industries that thrive on downloading (huge amounts of data) don't have enough leverage (yet) to pressure politics into meddling in it, I think.

The business of telling people they only have so much download/upload a month is because of cable and satellite companies that realize a lot of people are just getting the internet instead of paying to watch TV.

I hate using the internet on a phone. I'm a-okay with a Samsung flip phone. All I care about my phone doing is calling and texting.

Yeah, I'm just saying: some people have unlimited bandwidth on their desk- and laptops nowadays, but smartphones and tablets are just the new platform where ISPs implemented that same old business model of restricting internet access. I can see this going on for years to come, which clearly keeps the digital age from taking completely over.

One of the many reasons why pc will never truly be the "master race". Even if a game does have a physical copy, it's more than likely just a glorified steam code that's actually also illegal to resell apparently?

I think the console death will take decades. That means that GameStop has at least another 20 years to sell DVDs. I think that the decline in physical game sales hurts GameStop the least, as Amazon and Best Buy customers are far more inclined to buy online than GameStop customers, due to the latter’s predominant position in the used games business.

Yeah, it's going to be some time. If anything before it goes completely it will become a premium for people that want it. Hell it's already been headed in that direction.
