Limited Run Games - physical runs of digital games

I was logged on to my LRG account and paypal account. I added Soldner standard edition to my cart when it was 75% in stock. I was never able to check out, got looped in out of stock when I tried to check out hell.



Yeah, I saw this coming and posted as such.

I think they need to limit all games to 1 per person (sure some people will circumvent it) for at least a day (pref 2-3) and then make it a free for all on copies. It's not like these games have had an issue selling out.

I agree. They were doing 1 per limit for awhile but I don't know why they allowed Soldner to be 2 per person on the first half.

Yeah, not sure how much it would have helped with Soldner since it was "in-stock" and I couldn't order but I think it's a good idea going forward.

I think they do limit of 2 on the game they expect to sell slower (like octodud).

I was hitting the "out of stock" error but just kept hitting Refresh on the page until the web site realized it was being stupid. Only had to do it a couple times to get through.

Adding some insight:

Shopify reserves items for five mins when "checkout" is clicked but they stay in inventory until checkout is complete

This means Shopify shows reserved inventory as still being in stock, thus continues to allow cart adds.

If someone cancels a reserved copy by leaving checkout, someone else is then allowed to checkout.

So, this (new) explanation gives us a better understanding. Raises some questions too.

That explanation does not seem to match what some customers are apparently experiencing during checkout.

I never knew it was reserved when the item(s) are in your cart. I thought you just had to do a mad dash to checkout completion to ensure it was finally yours.

I thought that too. I'm still not going to slack off during checkout though.

Clearly it isn't, considering how you can still add games to your cart even if there isn't really any stock anymore. If it'd actually be reserved, adding a copy to your cart would guarantee you that copy.

You're pretty much just added to a waiting queue is all.
