The Shantae stuff is awesome! I was planning to preorder the upcoming 3DS release as well. Just added it to my Amazon cart last night: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JLGC0XS

WayForward really seems to be pushing this IP, probably because it's one of their more successful house brands. Pretty much everything else is contract.

I think it would have been cooler to have both Shantae games in a double pack. Having them on the same disc/cart is probally too hard, but a double disc set could have been really nice and something that would have made this extra special. I'd gladly pay $50 for the set.

Going to be annoyed if I only end up with one.

I'm confused, I thought it was only Pirate's Curse... as in, a single game release. What's this about a double pack?

Wayforward is not publishing anything as retail themselves. They always work with a publisher afaik. Getting stuff published especially through normal retail channels is no small feat for a rather small dev studio. And they seem to be very much focused on development to begin with, probably don't have the stuff to do that. And even if it is via a web shop only there is quite a bit of organization involved as well as handling the sales.

So basically, I only ever see Wayforwad games published by others. Currently:

Half-Genie Hero is published by XSEED.
Pirate's Curse 3DS is published by Rising Star Games.
And now Pirate's Curse and Risky on PS4 are published by LRG.

Not super-thrilled about Half-Genie Hero coming out on disc quite so quickly, honestly. There's a ton of Kickstarter-funded DLC on the way after its release, and it would have been nice to see the disc wait a bit for that to be completed.
