Well, the redbook audio and video was the main selling point of the SegaCD at least. It was mainly the audio in dat Ys that sold me on the TurboCD/Duo, though the cutscenes were nice for the time.

there were distinct benefits to the CD media that were taken advantage of, even if they were just redbook, FMV, and crude animated cut scenes.
much different than a flash game that can be played start to finish for free somehow migrated over to consoles as a paid game, and much later put on physical media and somehow get nerds to throw $20 at their PC screen to buy. Yes, I'm talking about Thomas Was Alone. You can see and do everything in what, 2 hours max? Who would buy that?

So supposedly the Shantae games were delivered Monday but when I checked today they weren't there. I'll have to see what's up tomorrow...
