The 4cd is better, and being vita helps me, but I'm leaning more towards skipping the CE.
The only incentive is the competition, which I'm not sure is enough to cause much change as it seems no matter what they do or charge it'll sell.

No, I wasn't aware of NISA till the early vita games. Even some of those seems kinda 'meh' still.

NISA's recent release of the Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA: Collector's Edition is their best quality limited edition release to date. The two piece box is made from similar material as the Summon Night 6: Wonderful Edition box. My, and every other Vita version buyer's big complaint about it though was the inclusion of the empty steelbook game case intended for the PS4 version of the game, not the Vita game. Otherwise it was nice. Biggest complaint with the LE boxes from NISA, aside from the aforementioned one, is that they tend to be made from cardstock, so very thin easily damaged material. Thankfully NISA is great at shipping & handling, so I haven't had one of their LE's turn up damaged yet.

I'm really on the fence with the LE that LRG is releasing tomorrow. I bought their Ys: Origin LE and feel like the box is made from even thinner cardstock than NISA's LE boxes tend to be, plus really didn't get much value for the money spent on it. Literally a folded stapled spine paperback artbook and a small folded poster, that's all the extra dollars got us buyers. Only reason I'm even considering the La-Mulana EX LE is I really want the 4-disc CD soundtrack, otherwise I feel the LE is overpriced.

Yeah, I'm listening to La Mulana OST today to get a feel for whether or not I want the CE.

If anyone else is interested you can do so here:
    https://nigoro.bandcamp.com/album/la...track-complete

I am very much on the fence since doing the math it seems like 45% (2500/5500) of the copies of the game are going to be the special edition, which makes it a bit harder for me to consider the premium. If the OST is good though it may push me over, the OST on bandcamp is $15 alone and you'd think there would be at least a $10 premium for a pressing of it to be done, that means you need to find maybe another $10 in value in the CE (poster/nice box)

I agree that NISA had pretty bad outer boxes for a long time. XSEED was not much better but both have been better than LRG (no offense Dougie), but I'm hoping the shortcomings with early LEs are more growing pains than anything. The Night Trap one was quite epic.

I don't like that NISA had wildly different sizes for the CE/LE of games. I liked when it was the open box on the side, where you can see the spine of the game and artbook/CD.

buying the la mulana le is the only way to get a manual. they said it added value to the le so standard editions wont have it.

Ah, well that brings it up a bit then. The OST is pretty good from what I've heard so far, I'm only early into it though.

I prefer that as well. The sizes were all the same which looked great on the shelf. I'd even make sure to put the games back in the boxes instead of with the other PS4 games.

Yeah the Ys Origins LE was pretty disappointing. I bought it as well...

Our boxes use the same stock, it's what we had inside tray wise that made it seem cheaper, but we are fixing that asap.

My biggest gripe with NISA was their different sizes which is why all over ours aside from Night Trap will be the same.

Making the LE better by making the SE worse is so gross.
